Defy the Drought and Enjoy the River

Just because there’s a drought, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some fun on the river while it flows downstream. With headwaters in the highest of the Rocky Mountains, the reaches we run on the Upper Colorado and Arkansas Rivers will still be pumping when the other rivers are too low to row.

Lower flow on the Upper Colorado and Arkansas makes for some great paddling because as the river drops, it changes personality, exposing new and different characteristics. A big stack of waves may turn into a series of small waves or a pinball rock alley. And that section you ran in May where you laughed about the last rapid and ate a quick snack? By August, that same section may require technical paddling and now delivers face-slapping waves.
