Photo History of Wilderness Aware Rafting
Bill and Jamie Alexander founded Wilderness Aware in 1976. In the fall of 1985, a few moths after getting married, Joe and Sue Greiner bought Wilderness Aware. We’re proud to say Wilderness Aware has been family owned and operated by the Greiner family ever since. When they first started, Wilderness Aware ran three boats and Joe and Sue used their one bedroom house as both a home and office (their bedroom was the changing room and rafts were kept in a nearby pasture). Year after year, hard work paid off and we are proud to operate out of a proper office on a 17.5-acre property with 35 boats in our fleet serving a full time ½ day, 1-day, and multi-day operation on multiple rivers in Colorado and the Salt River in Arizona.
