This remote section of epic whitewater is under consideration for inclusion into the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. Paddle hard through waves of cold water while taking in the scenery of this beautiful river surrounded by lush forests and abundant wildlife.

Upper Piedra River
Fast-paced with some challenging rapids all surrounded by awesome geology and dense forests.
Lower Piedra River
Steep with technical drops and narrow chutes, the Upper Piedra is a fast-paced challenge best for those with rafting experience.

The Piedra River is in the San Juan National Forest and is managed by the U.S. Forest Service.

- Permit Details: No fee of any kind is required to float the river within the National Forest on public lands.
