About the Arkansas River Royal Gorge Full Day Trip

If you’re looking for a wilder experience while white water rafting Colorado, one of our Royal Gorge river rafting trips may be just what you’re looking for.

Rafting Royal Gorge on the Arkansas River is the most popular extreme trip in the state for good reason. Drop after drop of pounding whitewater framed by stunning sheer cliffs means adrenaline-laced excitement for you and your friends—and stories you’ll be talking about for years to come. If you’re an experienced rafter looking for a more intense adventure, take a look at our extreme Colorado white water rafting trips in Royal Gorge and get ready for the ride of a lifetime.

We spend the morning warming up for Royal Gorge white water rafting in the scenic Bighorn Sheep Canyon, a picturesque stretch of whitewater where the rapids are similar to those found in Browns Canyon. After a delicious steak lunch, we’ll take the plunge into one of the most exciting spots for white water rafting in Colorado. Be prepared—the Royal Gorge is known for its big, powerful drops. Sheer walls, over 1000 feet high, channel the river into narrow, powerful rapids where the views are awe inspiring—if you have the time to look!

And if it turns out that you do sneak a peek, enjoy the views of one of the world’s highest suspension bridges – 1,053 feet!

Our advanced trips rafting the Royal Gorge are tougher than the more playful Browns Canyon and previous experience is suggested. If you’ve already rafted this great section of river, you should consider taking it up a notch by tackling the challenging Numbers section of the Arkansas near Buena Vista.

Each Royal Gorge trip booked by Wilderness Aware is run by our partner, Echo Canyon River Expeditions. Echo Canyon runs a quality operation with highly-trained and skilled guides.
