Joe and Sue Greiner purchased Wilderness Aware in 1985. Joe got his start in the outdoors in Boy Scouts and is an Eagle Scout. His degree is in Environmental Interpretation. Joe and Sue have two sons, Benjamin and Ethan.

Wilderness Aware has long held a commitment to excellence based on quality equipment and service. But Wilderness Aware owners Joe and Sue Greiner also continue to learn and grow by gathering tips and comparing notes during their travels around the country and the world.

Wilderness Aware is a member of a professional group of outfitters called Raftnet, which is committed to providing the best rafting experiences possible. Raftnet networks on a regular basis and its members have toured each others' operations and taken each others' trips to gain a deeper understanding of outfitting in other parts of the country.
