Extreme Rafting Adventures in Colorado
Although most of our guests take a
Browns Canyon Half-day or
Full-day trip or go on a
Multi-day trip, a select
group of adventure seekers are looking for a wilder stretch of whitewater. We
have been rafting the toughest sections of river around the state for years and
have selected what we believe are the two most exciting sections of river that
will get your heart rate up without being too close the edge of safety for
comfort.
The Arkansas River's
Royal Gorge is the most popular
extreme trip in the state. Located near Cañon City at the lower end of
the raftable section of the river, this trip is one to remember. We spend the
morning warming up in the exciting Lower Bighorn Sheep Canyon where
the rapids are comparable to Browns Canyon. After a nice
picnic lunch we enter the canyon for drop after drop of pounding whitewater. If
you dare, take a few minutes to admire the view of sheer cliffs leading to the
quarter mile span of the
world's highest suspension bridge at 1,053 feet. We'll also
pass under
the world's longest single-span Aerial Tram and shoot past
the
world's steepest incline railway.
The most extreme whitewater we offer is the Arkansas'
Numbers Section of the
river. Near the uppermost raftable section of river, the river here is steep
and rocky. Precision paddling and maneuvering is the key to a successful run
here. The rapids in this section come in quick succession as we look for
resting spots between the big hits. After lunch we continue through non-stop
action in the Narrows
section of river. Our trip concludes right at the beach where your car is
parked. Walk up to our office, have a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy photos of
your adventure that are available for purchase. |
