Mild Water Family Float Trips The adventure of a mild whitewater rafting trip through the Arkansas River’s Upper Bighorn Sheep Canyon is a great family whitewater vacation. This whitewater rafting getaway has been specifically tailored for families with young children. This fun family vacation is also a perfect way for parents, grandparents and their grandkids to share an adventure travel experience together.

Continuously moving water occasionally punctuated by mild rapids characterizes the action in this picturesque section of the river. This section of the Arkansas River is located just downstream of the town of Salida, Colorado.

Most of our guests prefer the more difficult Browns Canyon section of the Arkansas River, but this milder getaway provides a vacation adventure for families with children as young as 4 years old.

If you are looking for a shorter trip for your young child, consider our Splash-N-Dash Family Rafting Trip. This one hour trip is also suitable for children as young as 4 years old. More adventurous family members may extend this short trip by signing up for the Splash-N-Dash Extended ½-Day trip which includes all the whitewater of the wildly popular Browns Canyon ½ Day Trip.

We are happy to provide between meal snacks and toys to keep young children entertained for hours.
