In 1859, during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush, gold was
discovered along the Blue River, and General George E. Spencer founded the town
of Breckenridge. Today, more than 350 historic buildings still remain, making a

In 1882, the railroad arrived. Although the train is
long gone, you can still hike the old trail on Boreas Pass Road, a must-do

fortunes – and population – rose and fell. In 1961, the

on Interstate 70, which gave easy access to Denver and the Front Range. Once
